The Dynamic Cell is a new concept in the teaching of cell biology, depicting the cell in a series of animated 3-dimensional scenes. By clicking with the mouse on structures within the scenes, \'illustrated records\' (pop-up screens) appear with animations, simulations, zoomed views, video clips or still pictures, accompanied by a short, descriptive text. Students are thus taken on a visual tour of the cell and introduced to cellular structures and processes in an interactive and entertaining way. The Dynamic Cell is a valuable supplement to any standard cell biology text, showing how all the various cell components fit together and giving a clearer picture of dynamic cellular processes. Both beginners and more advanced students of cell biology will find The Dynamic Cell a useful aid in visualizing complex intracellular processes.
