Byl vyšetřen reprezentativní soubor 2542 českých mužů ve věku 35-651et s ohledem na jejich zdravotní stav a výskyt erektilních dysfunkcí. Mezi 54,1 % těch, kteří uvedli některou formu poruch ztopoření, trpělo lehkou erektilní dysfunkcí 51,5 %, střední 26,1 % a těžkou dysfunkcí 22,4 % respondentů. V mužské populaci ve středním věku je tedy 26,2 % mužů se střední a těžkou erektilní dysfunkcí. Nejčastějšími zdravotními problémy, které uvedli respondenti s erektilní dysfunkcí (a které se naopak ve skupině mužů netrpících poruchou ztopoření vyskytovaly nejméně), patří urologické potíže, diabetes a infarkt, přičemž faktory psychické (stres a deprese) jsou v souvislosti s těžkou a se středně těžkou erektilní dysfunkcí uváděny u mužů středního věku nejméně často. Lze tedy na základě získaných výsledků předpokládat, že organickou etiologii má většina poruch erektility mužů této věkové kategorie.

The authors examined a representative sample of 2 542 Czech men aged 35-65 years with regard to their health status and incidence of erectile dysfiznctions. Among 54.1 % of those who reported some form of erectile dysfiznction 51.5 % suffered from mild type, 26.1 % a medium severe type, and 22.4 % from severe erectile dysfiznction. We can assume tkat in a middle aged male population in the Czech Republic 26.2 % of men suffer from medium severe or severe erectile dysfunction. The most frequent medical problems reported by men with dysfunction (and least frequently reported by men without erectile problems) are urologickl complaints, diabetes and heart diseases, while psychological factors (stress and depression) are associated with erectile dysfunction in middle-aged men least frequently. Based on the assembled results it may be thus assumed tkat the majority of erectile disorders in men of this age group has an organic etiology.
