Cytoreduktivní chirurgie a intraperitoneální chemoterapie nabývá v posledních letech stále větší popularity. Jedná se o poměrně složitou metodu, prováděnou s kurativním záměrem, která je ovšem doprovázena značnou morbiditou. Dosud neexistuje jednotné schéma hodnocení toxicity této léčby. Nicméně ve studiích větších souborů pacientů lze sledovat výskyt častějšího typu komplikací oproti standardní digestivní chirurgii. Včasné rozpoznání těchto komplikací vede ke zlepšení účinnosti této metody, ale především ke zlepšení kvality života pacientů, kteří cytoreduktivní chirurgii a intraperitoneální chemoterapii podstoupili. Morbidita a mortalita této metody je rovněž značně ovlivněna správnou indikací pacientů a zkušeností daného centra, proto by cytoreduktivní chemoterapie a intraperitoneální chemoterapie měla být záležitostí pouze terciárních high-volume center.

Cytoreductive surgery and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy have been gaining more popularity in the recent years. Its curativeintent is accompanied by relatively high morbidity rate. There is no unified classification system evaluating toxicity of thistreatment modality. Nevertheless there is more frequent occurrence of certain types of toxicities which differ from the toxicityof the standard digestive surgery. Early recognition of these complications results in better efficacy of the treatment but mostimportantly in better quality of life of the patients undergoing this modality of treatment. The morbidity and mortality rate is alsoinfluenced by degree of experience with this method. Therefore cytoreductive surgery and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapyshould be performed only in high-volume tertiary centres.
