Vědecký výzkum je jednou z četných úloh studentů a akademických pracovníků. Avšak úspěšné naplnění této role vyžaduje pochopení prostředků, které zahmují různé pojmy, např. věda, vědecký výzkum, vědecké metody a teorie. Vymezením uvedených pojmů se stávají cíle vědy a vědeckého výzkumu stejně jako výzkumné projekty zřetelnějšími.
Scientific research is one of a number of roles in the role repertoire of students and academics. However, to successfully fulfil this role, one has to understand what the meaning of various concepts comprises, e.g. science, scientific research, scientific method and theory. In circumscribing these concepts the meaning of the goals of science and scientific research, as well as composing a research proposal all become clearer.
