Kombinácie proteolytických enzýmov aplikované perorálne pri systémovej enzymoterapii môžu mať určité imunomodulačné účinky a na tomto základe pôsobiť prospešne v prevencii alebo kombinovanej liečbe niektorých chorobných stavov najmä so zápalovou etiológiou. Predpokladané imunonormalizačné účinky týchto preparátov nie sú zatiaľ podložené dostatočnými dôkazmi. Možnosti cieleného využitia enzýmových preparátov v terapii konkrétnych chorobných jednotiek by sa určite zlepšili po objasnení mechanizmu ich účinku na molekulovej a bunkovej úrovni, ako aj väčším počtom kontrolovaných klinických štúdií.

Combinations of proteolytic enzymes orally administered in the systemic enzyme therapy may have some immunomodulatory effects. On principle, they may operate beneficially in the prevention and/or combinated therapy of some diseases especially with the inflammatory etiology. At the present, the presumed immunonormalizing effects of these preparations are not sufficiently demonstrated yet. The possibility of more precise administration of the enzyme preparations in different diseases treatment would be certainly improved after better explanation of their mechanism of action on the molecular and cellular level as well as with the greater number of controlled clinical studies.
