Nepřímé mobilizační techniky využívají úlevových poloh, abychom dosáhli relaxaci v dysfunkčních pohybových segmentech, a tím také normalizaci rozsahu pohybu s úpravou bolestivých svalových spoušťových bodů. „Funkční technika“ spočívá v tom, že v poloze úlevové pacient za podpory terapeuta relaxuje a postupně dosahujeme relaxaci i v poloze původně bolestivé. Při technice „counterstrain“ úlevovou polohu přeženeme až po extremní polohu, a v této poloze pacient přetrvává po dobu 90 sekund a potom se pomalu vrací do neutrální polohy.

Indirect mobilisation techniques make use of relief positions producing relaxation of dysfunctional movement segments, thus achieving normalisation of the range of movement and elimination of myofascial trigger points. The “functional method“ achieves this by first giving support to the patient in the relief position: after this he remains relaxed while the therapist returns gradually to positions which were previously painful. Making use of „counterstrain“ the relief position is exaggerated until maximum range is reached and in this position the patient renains for 90 secunds before slowly returning to neutral.
