Fenomén rozpadu rodiny je v současné době často diskutovaným tématem. Společně se zvyšujícím se počtem rozvodů narůstá i počet neúplných rodin, tj. rodin, kde matka či otec vychovávají sami alespoň jedno dítě. Již samotná definice neúplné rodiny vyznívá negativně, něco jí chybí, není úplná. To ovšem nemusí znamenat, že taková rodina nesplňuje kritéria rodiny funkční. Na rodinu můžeme pohlížet z několika hledisek, hledisko dítěte však zůstává povětšinou stranou. Funkčnost či nefunkčnost každé rodiny vážným způsobem ovlivňuje vývoj a socializaci dítěte. Poslední šetření funkčnosti rodiny proběhlo v 80. letech minulého století prostřednictvím Dotazníku funkčnosti rodin ve vztahu k dítěti prof. MUDr. Jiřího Dunovského, DrSc. Tohoto aktualizovaného dotazníku bylo použito ke zjištění úrovně funkčnosti neúplných – rozvedených rodin. Pro získání potřebných dat byla použita metoda sběru dat – dotazování. Zvolenou technikou byl dotazník. Funkčnost rodiny je posuzována na základě těchto kritérií: složení rodiny, stabilita rodiny, sociálně ekonomická situace, osobnost rodiče, sourozenci a jejich osobnost, stav a vývoj šetřeného dítěte, zájem o dítě a péče o dítě.

The phenomenon of the family break-up is currently a frequently discussed theme. Together with increasing rate of divorces, the number of incomplete families also increases, where either the mother alone or the father alone brings up at least one child. The definition of the incomplete family itself sounds negatively – something is missing, it is not complete. However, this does not mean that this family does not adhere to criteria of the functional family. The family can be considered based on several standpoints, but the standpoint of the child usually steps aside. The functionality or non-functionality of any family seriously affects the child development and socialization. The most recent examination of the family functionality was implemented in the 1980´s with the use of the Questionnaire of the family functionality in a relationship to the child by prof. MUDr. Jiří Dunovský, DrSc. This updated questionnaire was employed to establish the level of the functionality of incomplete – divorced families. The data necessary were acquired by the inquiry data accumulation method. The questionnaire served as the technique chosen. The family functionality is considered based on the following criteria: family structure, family stability, social and economical situation, personality of the parent, brothers and sisters and their personality, condition and development of the child examined, interest in the child and taking care of the child.
