Psoriasis is one of the most common chronic skin diseases with a multifactorial and still not fully understood ethiopathogenesis. It is estimated that approximately 1-3% of the general population of highly developed countries has psoriasis. Psoriasis is a chronic recurring condition that varies in severity from minor localized patches to complete body coverage. Apart from acute physical symptoms, the disease influences self-image, everyday activity and social contacts. To control the symptoms it demands a systematic treatment and proper nursing care, and only a professional and evidence-based practice can provide such care. Recently one can observe a tendency in health care to establish standards, which indicate the level of the quality of medical service associated with planning, implementing and evaluating the quality of service, also in nursing practice. The aim of this paper is to present the standard of nurse’s work, which leads to better quality of life of the patient suffering from psoriasis, their family and beloved once.
