Chronická autoimúnna tyreoiditída, tzv. Hashimotova tyreoiditída, je najčastejšie sa vyskytujúcim druhom tyreoiditídy a najčastejším autoimunitne podmieneným endokrinným ochorením vôbec. K najznámejším extratyreoidálnym symptómom ochorenia patria muskuloskeletálne manifestácie, ktoré majú rôzne etiopatogenetické mechanizmy. Okrem manifestácií spôsobených dysfunkciou štítnej žľazy v zmysle hypo- a hypertyreózy, predpokladá sa aj priamy vplyv tyroidálej autoimunity na spojivové tkanivo a/alebo pridruženie iných autoimunitne podmienených chorôb, ako sú niektoré difúzne choroby spojiva.

Chronic autoimmune thyroiditis also called Hashimoto ́s thyroiditis is the most frequent type of thyroiditis as well as the most frequent autoimmune endocrinologic disease. The most often extrathyroidal symptomes of the disease are musculoskeletal manifestations with a various etiopatogenetic mechanisms. Except of manifestations of thyroid dysfunction i.e. hypo and hyperthyroidism, there is an eligible effect of thyroid autoimmunity to connective tissue and/or coexistence of other autoimmune diseases e.g. some connective tissue diseases.
