Karcinóm pľúc je veľmi rozšírené nádorové ochorenie najmä u mužov, ktoré sa väčšinou diagnostikuje neskoro v pokročilom štádiu ochorenia. V práci sa rozoberajú základné terapeutické postupy podľa morfologických typov. U SCLC typu je základnou liečebnou modalitou chemoterapia.V skupine NSCLC má prvoradé a nezastupiteľné miesto v nižších štádiách chirurgická liečba, ktorá sa kombinuje podľa štádia aj s inými liečebnými modalitami. V práci sa rozoberajú tiež možnosti primárnej a sekundárnej prevencie tohto zákerného ochorenia.

Lung cancer is a very freguent cancer, especially in men, which is usually diagnosed late in advanced stage of disease. This work deals with primary therapeutical processes divided by morphologic types. With SCLC type, the principal treatment modality is chemotherapy. In the group of NSCLC, surgery is the first and most important treatment, combined with other treatment modalities according to the stage of disease. The work points out possibilities of primary and secondary prevention of this malignant disease.
