Aim: The aim of the research was to assess the impact of the type of milk consumed and the age of introduction of complementary food on various aspects of children eating behavior. Methods: In February-March 2012, we assessed the eating behavior in 53 children aged 7 months to 3 years. The type of milk consumed (breast milk, infant formula) and age of introduction of complementary food (≤ 4 month, ≥ 5 month) were referred by their mothers. To evaluate the relationship between variables, we used Mann-Whitney test. Results: There are no significant differences in eating behavior in the group of exclusively breastfed infants and infants with combined milk nutrition. In the children with early integration of complementary food (≤ 4 month), we found a higher rate of appetite, greater enjoyment of food, greater sensitivity to food (p = 0,040) and less sensitivity to internal cues of satiety. Conclusion: Children eating behavior is determined by the age of introduction of complementary food. In the future, it is important assess prospectively the association the age of integration of complementary food and development of weight in relation to the analysis of eating behavior.
