O hemoroidální nemoci hovoříme v současnosti jako o civilizační chorobě. Dle statistik potížemi spojenými s tímto onemocněním trpí alespoň jedenkrát za život více než polovina všech obyvatel průmyslově vyspělých zemí.

We currently speak of hemorrhoidal disease as a disease of civilization. According to statistics, more than half of the population of industrialized countries suffers from the disease associated with this disease at least once in their lifetime. Despite the fact that the therapy of hemorrhoidal disease should be started only after a clinical examination by a doctor, the varied symptomatology of this disease brings patients to the pharmacy before the doctor's office. The article therefore aims to introduce the reader to the current possibilities of self-treatment of this disease and to acquaint him with recent recommendations of the European Proctological Society, whose guidelines, regardless of the degree of hemorrhoidal disease, form the basis of venopharmaceutical therapy, local treatment, defecation training and dietary measures. A combination of these (especially pharmacotherapeutic) measures brings a significant benefit, and thus an improvement in the quality of life of the victim.
