Chlorinated phenol derivatives were found to display a cytotoxic effect on numerous cell models, such as chlorococcal algae, cyanobacteria, bacteria, micromycetes, plant and animal cells. Their cytotoxic effects will increase with chlorination and with the presence of a methoxy group.
