Ostrovní stát ležící jihovýchodně od Floridy a severovýchodně od Kuby v Atlantském oceánu. Území státu tvoří část Lucayského souostroví. V roce 1717 se Bahamy staly britskou kolonií, 7. ledna 1964 jim byla udělena samospráva a 10. července 1973 byla vyhlášena nezávislost. Hlavní město je Nassau.
