Mitochondrie hepatocytů. Jako u všech mitochondrií mají vnější a vnitřní membránu, které tvoří dva oddělené mitochondriální kompartmenty: vnitřní prostor zvaný matrix a daleko menší, úzký mezimembránový prostor. Přibližně 67% všech mitochondriálních proteinů se nachází v matrix.

As in all mitochondria, there are an outer membrane and an inner membrane, together creating two separate mitochondrial compartments: the internal matrix space and a much narrower intermembrane space.
