Bone grafting of the maxilla alveolus, followed by the placement of dental implants is an alternative to the conventional treatment of cleft patients. However, the choice of material for reconstruction and the timing of implantation have been topics of much discussion. For comparison, one group of patients is given enchondral autologous bone graft and the other uses membranous one. Each group is then divided into two subgroups, since dental implants are inserted at two different intervals following bonegrafting. The analysis compares the results of all variants using direct examination, radiometic measurements, and densitometry. This approach will specify method, reduce the risks of application, and may also increase the quality of life of patients with cleft.
