The authors report on an unusual cause of interruption of a planned vascular operation. The authors detected an anomalous biliary duct at the beginning of the vascular reconstruction operation. This duct was situated between the peritoneum and the abdominal fascia, and was unintentionally opened during the operation. Thus the laparotomy wound was contaminated by bile. To prevent contamination of the vascular prosthesis, which was planned for the reconstruction (bifurcation prosthesis), the operation had to be interrupted.

Videothoracoscopic procedures and video-assisted thoracic surgery (V.A.T.S.) are up-to-date procedures in thoracic surgery. The authors evaluated results from 155 cases. They reviewed especially indications, complications and results. The most frequent indications were spontaneous pneumothorax, fluidothorax, interstitial lung disease and lung carcinoma. Staging was main procedure in cases of lung carcinoma. Complications were observed in 14 cases (9%). Of these complications 5 developed at the time of surgery (3.2%) and 9 were postoperative (5.8%).

The authors discuss clinic symptoms, reminding of acute abdomen, which called peritonism. Two patients admitted and treated at the 1st Department of Surgery are presented. These patients meet the criteria of the category of peritonism.

The author gives an account of his experience with the insertion of trocars during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. It leads to a better cosmetic effect of the operation. Careful selection of patients before surgery prevents possible complications. The described procedure is suited only for an experienced surgical team which performs laparoscopic operations as a matter of routine.
