Autori uvedli některé teoretické úvahy o canisteranii. Pokusili se definovat canisteraoii iako metodu sloužící především k zlepšení psychosociálního zdraví ohrožených skupin obyvatelstva. Domnívají se, že lze rozeznávat canisterapii v „širším slova smyslu" a vlastní canisterapii, tj. „canisterapii v užším slova smyslu". Zdůrazňuií skutečnost, že obiektivizace této metody ie velmi obtížná. Vlastní terapeutický úspěch lze prokázat především při terapii např. autistických dětí. Dále se věnovali jednotlivým účastníkům canisterapeutického procesu a jejími vztahy a snažili se charakterizovat povinnosti a vlastnosti jednotlivých účastníků procesu.

The authors mentioned some theoretical considerations of canistherapy. They attempted to definite the canistherapy as a method functioning above all for improvement of psychical and social health of endangered groups of population. They believed that we can distinguish the canistherapy in its wide sense of the word and proper canistheraov. i.e. the canistherapy in ints strict sense. They emphasize the fact that materialization of this method is very difficult. Proper therapeutical success can be proved primarily in the treatment of, e.g. autistic children. They also paid attention to individual participants of canistherapeutical procedure and its relations and tried to characterize the duties and qualities of single persons taking part in that procedure.
