Je popsán případ nemocného s poměrně lehkou formou X-vázané agamaglobulinémie léčeného téměř 20 let intramuskulárním imunoglobulinem. Pacient nebyl spokojen s výsledky svého léčení, proto navštívil homeopata, ten doporučil vysazení imunoglobulinové léčby. Asi 4 měsíce po tomto vysazení se objevila infekce dýchacích cest s následným rozvojem pneumonie, perikarditidy a šokovým stavem; díky intenzívní terapii pacient nakonec tuto příhodu přežil. Jedním z momentů vedoucím až k rozhodnutí o vysazení terapie byla zřejmě i nedostatečná edukace pacienta o charakteru jeho onemocnění a nutnosti stálé substituční léčby.

A case-report of a patient with a relatively mild form of X-linked agammaglobulinemia treated by intramuscular immunoglobulin is reported. Because of dissatisfaction with the treatment the patient consulted a specialist in homeopathy who suggested discontinuation of the immunoglobulin treatment. Approximately 4 months after the discontinuation the patient had got an upper respiratory tract infection which progressed into pneumonia and pericarditis with shock, fortunately due to intensive treatment the patient survived this complication. Insufficient education of the patient in the character of the disease and the necessity of adequate treatment seems to be one of important aspects leading to this complication.
