Hermeneutika je moderní vědecká metoda zíuíazovaná mezi metody kvalitativního výzkumu. Jejím cílem je ptát se po podstatě jevů (např. uměleckých děl, sociálních situaci i biologických procesů) a snažit se o jejich pochopení a vysvětlení. Aniž by byl rozšířen a využíván její název, uplatňuje se tato metoda i ve fyzioterapii. Při diagnostice ťuíťkčních poruch pohybového systému nevystačíme s pouhým zaznamenáním přítomných změn, nýbrž musíme se ptát po jejich významu a smyslu a snažit se pochopit skryté souvislosti. Míra, do jaké jsme toho schopni, pak určuje kvalitu terapeutického procesu.

Hermeneutics is modern scientific method assigned to the quantitative research methods. The objective of this method is searching the nature of phenomena (e.g. work of art, social situations and biological processes) and trying to understand and explain them. In spite of the fact, that its name is not widely broadening and using, this method is being applied in physiotherapy. Merely recording of actual changes at the diagnostics of functional disorders of movement system is not sufficient, but we have to ask for its significance and reason and to endeavour to grasp hidden relations. Therapeutic process quality is then determinated by the extent of our understanding capability.
