Súborný referát sa zaoberá prehľadom poznatkov o negatívnych vplyvoch a rizikách pôsobenia vyššej nadmorskej výšky na človeka. V prvej časti sa zaoberá rozdielmi v troch výškových pásmach - miernom, strednom a extrémnom. V druhej časti sú uvedené atmosférické zmeny s výškou. V tretej časti sú účinky hypoxie na človeka. Vo štvrtej časti sa zaoberá miernou nadmorskou výškou, v ktorej uvádza aj výsledky vlastných prác. V piatej časti opisuje rôzne formy výškovej choroby, v šiestej extrémne výšky, v siedmej problémy leteckej dopravy súvisiace s hypoxiou.

The review article deals with the data of negative influences and risks of higher altitude on humans. In the first part it deals with differences in three altitude levels - moderate, middle, and extreme. In the second part the atmospheric alterations according to altitude are reviewed. The third part contains the influences of hypoxia on humans. The fourth part deals with the moderate altitude and reviews some own data of the author. The fifth part describes the various forms of the altitude disease, the sixth one deals with the extreme altitude, and the seventh one with problems in the aviation accompanying hypoxia.
