Barrettův jícen je komplikací dlouhotrvající refluxní choroby jícnu. Jedná se o inkompletní intestinální metaplazii jícnu. Závažnost Barrettova jícnu spočívá v tom, že je prekancerózou. Cílem práce byla retrospektivní analýza Barrettova jícnu esofagogastroskopovaných pacientů jednoho pracoviště v uplynulých 9 letech. Z celkového počtu 14 880 gastroskopií byl Barrettův jícen nebo podezření na něj zjištěno u 431 nemocných. Z tohoto celkového počtu bylo 291 mužů (67 %) a 140 žen (33 %), poměr muži : ženy je tedy 2 : 1.

Barretťs oesophagus is a complication of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. It is defined as a incomplete intestinal metaplasia. The relevance of this matter is, that Barretťs oesophagus is pre-malignant status. Aim of the study was to analyze retrospective data of upper GI endoscopies in a single centre within last 9 years. In 431 of the 14 880 patients who underwent oesophagogastroscopy, Barretťs oesophagus was detected as proved or suspected. Out of total number of patients there were 291males (67 %) and 140 females (33 %), the ratio males : females was 2 : 1.
