Při současném boomu nových technologií, léků a cen je třeba, aby nové postupy obhájily svou přínosnost, tedy zda vzhledem k vyšší ceně nabízejí adekvátně vyšší účinnost a zda se jejich aplikace jednoduše vyplatí. Přínosnost nového postupu se hodnotí pomocí kalkulace nákladové efektivity, kdy se nová léčba posuzuje z pohledu nákladů a přínosů.

With the current boom of new technologies, medicines and prices it is necessary that new procedures defend their merits, that is, whether due to the higher price they offer higher efficacy and simply whether their application is worth its price. The merits of a new procedure are evaluated by calculation of cost effectiveness, when the new treatment is assessed in terms of costs and benefits.
