Krvácanie z dolnej časti tráviaceho traktu u detí, na rozdiel od väčšiny krvácaní u dospelých pacientov, má svoje odlišnosti a špecifiká. Čím v nižšom veku sa objavuje, tým býva závažnejšie a vyžaduje si urgentné vyšetrenie a neodkladnú liečbu. Etiológia v jednotlivých vekových obdobiach je odlišná a starostlivosť o deti s krvácaním do gastrointestinálneho traktu sa líši od dospelých v takých aspektoch, ako častá potreba celkovej analgézie, počet a lokalizácia slizničných biopsií či inštrumentárium.

Gastrointestinal bleeding from lower part of GI tract is mostly low grade and self-limiting in majority of adults. In children and mainly in neonates is of serious concern and requires urgent investigation and immediate treatment. The etiology of lower bleeding varies according to the age and the medical care of these children differs from adults in various aspects, such as frequent use of general anesthesia, the number and location of mucosal biopsies and when using endoscopic methods in the routine ileac intubations.
