V každodennej klinickej praxi v mnohých prípadoch je ťažké určiť presnú hranicu medzi bronchiálnou astmou a CHOCHP. V súčasnosti neexistuje konsenzus v definícii astma-CHOCHP overlap syndrómu. Tento stav môžeme vnímať ako dve rozdielne patofyziologické jednotky vyskytujúce sa spoločne, alebo ako rôzne fenotypy jedného ochorenia. Spoločne sa vyznačujú epizódami exacerbácií, keď sa zvyšuje intenzita zápalu. Práca popisuje prípad 55-ročnej ženy, u ktorej bolo možné pozorovať znaky a príznaky oboch ochorení.
Overlap syndrome of asthma and COPD is a common condition, which is not well understood. Although asthma and COPD are different pathologies, many patients share characteristics from both entities. These cases can have different evolutions and responses to treatment or can be different phenotypes of the same disease. These conditions are associated with a significant and increasing disease burden. The case report describes the course of 55-years-old female who shared characteristics from both entities.
