Příznivé výsledky klinických studií vedly k zařazení nové skupiny léků, tzv. ARNi, do terapie chronického srdečního selhání se sníženou ejekční frakcí. Jde o novou skupinu léčiv, jejímž jediným zástupcem je kombinovaná molekula obsahující valsartan a sakubitril. Mechanismus účinku spočívá v ovlivnění systému renin-angiotenzin-aldosteron (blokáda receptorů typu 1 pro angiotenzin II valsartanem) a inhibici degradace natriuretických peptidů (inhibice neutrální endopeptidázy sakubitrilem). Konzistentnost pozitivních výsledků klinických studií vedla k zahrnutí této molekuly do doporučení evropských i národních společností pro diagnostiku a terapii chronického srdečního selhání.

Favourable results from clinical trials have led to the inclusion of a new group of medicines, called ARNi, in chronic heart failure therapy in patients with reduced ejection fraction of the left ventricle. This is a new drug group whose only representative is a combined molecule containing valsartan and sacubitril. The mechanism of action consists of the suppression of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system (angiotensin II receptor blockade by valsartan) and inhibition of the degradation of natriuretic peptides (inhibition of neutral endopeptidase by sacubutril). The consistency of the positive results of clinical studies has led to acceptance of this molecule in the recommendations of European and national societies for the diagnosis and therapy of chronic heart failure.
