Peritonzilárny absces (PTA) predstavuje kolekciu hnisového obsahu v priestore medzi fibróznym obalom tonzily a musculus constrictor pharyngis. PTA je bežnou komplikáciou akútnej tonzilitídy a je považovaný za najčastejší hlboký krčný zápal. Jednostranná lokalizácia tohoto procesu je relatívne bežná, avšak obojstranné postihnutie je pomerne zriedkavé. V tomto článku prezentujeme kazuistiku pacientky s obojstranným peritonzilárnym abscesom liečeným chirurgicky obojstrannou tonzilektómiou.
Peritonsillar abscess (PTA) is the collection of purulent material between the fibrous capsule of the tonsil and the pharyngeal constrictor muscles. PTA is a very common complication of acute tonsillitis and is considered to be the most common deep space infection of the head and neck. Unilateral presentation of this condition is relatively common, while bilateral involvement is quite rare. In this article, we present the case of a patient with bilateral peritonsillar abscesses treated surgically by bilateral tonsillectomy.
