Vyšetřování sluchu nejmenších dětí se zcela liší od vyšetřování dětí starších a dospělých. Nejmenší dítě nespolupracuje, nemá žádnou sluchovou zkušenost a neumí komunikovat. Je tedy třeba použít jiné metody než takové, které vycházejí se spolupráce vyšetřujícího a vyšetřovaného. Používá se metoda evokovaných potenciálů (BERA), která je v současnosti tím nejlepším, co foniatři v této oblasti mají a mohou využít. V práci je podrobně rozebráno, které děti je třeba opakovaně vyšetřit s ohledem na možné postižení sluchové funkce. Čím dříve je postižení sluchu odhaleno a správ-ně kompenzováno včetně intenzivní surdopedické péče, tím menší jsou trvalé dopady na následující život takto postiže-ného dítěte. Zdálo by se, že hodnocení evokovaných potenciálů jako zcela objektivní vyšetřo-vací metody je bezchybné. Není tomu tak. V druhé části práce jsou popsány limity tohoto vyšetření s ohledem na technic-ké a patofyziologické podmínky, a je tak zdůrazněn racionální pohled na celou problematiku.

Examination of the hearing of the youngest children is completely different from the examination of older children and adults. A toddler does not cooperate, has no auditory experience and cannot communicate. It is therefore necessary to use methods other than those based on collaboration between the examiner and the examined. The method of evoked potentials (BERA) is used, which is currently the best method that phoniatricians have and are able to use in this area. The thesis discusses in detail for which children it is necessary to repeatedly examine hearing with regard to possible hearing impairment. The sooner the hea-ring impairment is detected and correctly compensated for, including intensive sur-dopaedic care, the fewer will be the lasting effects on the subsequent life of a child affected in this way.It would seem that measuring the evo-ked potential as a completely objective method of investigation is flawless. This is not the case. The second part of the thesis describes the limitations of this examina-tion, with regard to technical and patho-physiological conditions, and thus empha-sises a rational outlook on the whole issue.
