Rychlá maxilámíií expanze (RME)je efektivní ortodontický léčebný postup v dočasné i smíšené dentici. Hlavní klinické indikace se vztahují k transverzální diskrepanci zubních oblouků (zejména úzký horní zubní oblouk) a zahrnují: jedno- nebo oboustranně zkřížený skus, časné stavy malokluze II. a III. tř. spojené s úzkou horní čelistí. Časová náročnost léčby při použití kroužkových nebo lepených aparátků závisí především na rigiditě přístnroje a věku pacienta.

Rapid maxillary expansion is an effective orthopedic treatment means in the deciduous and mixed dentition phasees. Main clinical indications for rapid maxillary expansion are relatd to the presence of a negative transverse discrepancy between the dental arches generally due to a narrower maxillary arch and comprise: uni- onrbi-lateral posterior cross-bite, eariy Class II and ass III malocclusions associated with a maxillary ansverse deficiency, mild to moderate tooth/arch dispcrepancy. Long-temi effect induced by rapid maxillary expansion either with banded or bonded expanders strongly depend upon the rigidity of the appliance and the patient stage of maturation.
