Podle zkušenosti neurochiiurgů jsou nejvážnějšími následky callosotomie mutismus a pomichy čerstvé paměti. Ostatní následky jsou těžko zjistitelné a nemocnému většinou nevadí. Úplné protětí CC je indikováno u některvnh tvpů nezvládnutelné epilepsie, částečné má místo nejen v epileptochirurgii, ale používá se jako přístupová cesta k nádorům a cystám ve III. komoře.

According to the neurosurgical experiences the most serious consequences of callosotomy are mutism and recent memory disturbances. Other sequelae are difficult to disclose and the patieiits usually do not know about them. Total callosotomy is warranted in certain cases of intractable epilepsy, partial callosotomy is employed in epilepsy surgery as well and as an approach to the tumours and cysts in the third ventricle.
