Autoři charakterizují nástup světové urbanistické krize a seznamují s projekty „zdravých měst" a „trvale udržitelných měst". Zapojili se do hledání a testování indikátorů k monitorování trvale udržitelného rozvoje měst. Seznamují s výsledky studie, která prostřednictvím vybraných 10 indikátorů a 33 dílčích ukazatelů stanovila pořadí sedmi největších českých měst z hlediska podmínek pro kvalitní občanské zdraví, a to v řazení podle podmínek nejlepších po nejhorší: Hradec Králové - Olomouc - Brno - Liberec - Plzeň - Praha - Ostrava.

The authors characterize the onset of the worldwide urbanist crisis and provide information on the projects of „healthy cities" and „permanently sustainable cities". They pariticipate in the search for and testing of indicators for monitoring of a permanently sustainable development of cities. They also provide information on the results of a study which assessed, using 10 selected indicators and 33 partial indicators, the order of the seven largest Czech cities from; the aspect of the citizens' health standard. The order from best to worst is as follows: Hradec Králové - Olomouc - Brno - Liberec - Plzeň - Praha - Ostrava.
