Jsou popsány dva nekroptické případy plicní osifikace. V prvním případě šlo o solitámí periferně situovanou lézi tvořenou uniformně utvářenou spongiózní kostí. Vzhledem k záchytu minimálního množství chrupavky a nepřítomnosti cévních či jiných s touto změnou souvisejících a dosud popsaných změn plicní tkáně, byla leze hodnocena jako benigní plicní mezenchymom (osteohamartom) s domintyici kostní komponentou. U druhého případu šlo o chronickou tromboembolickou nemoc plicní (TEN) s ložiskem masivní osmkace periferie 7. segmentu vpravo. Mikroskopicky mělo charakter nodulámího typu osifikace, jako sekundární leze, daná reparací fibrózy či alveolárního krvácení při TEN.
Two cases of pulmonary ossification found in portmortems were described. The first case, a 67year-old stop-smoker with systemic hypertension died of a ruptured atherosclerotic aneurysm of the abdominal aorta. A well-defined subpleural mass (52 mm in max. dimension) was composed of monotonous mature trabecular osseous tissue with two focuses of cartilage up to 500 ^m. There was no evidence of occluded blood supply and chronic passive congestion in the pulmonary parenchyma. A diagnosis of mesenchymoma (osteohamartoma) with the predominance of osseous tissue was made. The second case, a 72-year-old man non-smoker died of urosepsis. There were no pulmonary symptoms in patient's previous history. A well-defined ovoid mass (25 mm in diameter) was subpleurally located. Microscopically, it was formed of small nodules of mature lamellar bone together with branching bony deposits of trabecular character. Moreover, there were multiple smaller focuses scattered in the distant pulmonary tissue having appearence of nodular ossification. The evidence of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease together with ossification in microscopy permits the possibility that the nodidar ossification may develop from puhnonary scarring or haemorrhagies as a late consequence of the thromboembolic pulmonary disease.
