V přehledném článku jsou uvedeny některé demografické ukazatele stárnutí - střední délka života, index stáří, počet obyvatel nad 65 roků vyžadujících domácí nebo ústavní péči. Podrobněji je pak popsána problematika účelné farmakoterapie ve stáří s odlišnou farmakokinetikou, farmakodynamikou a možnostmi interakcí léčiv. Závěrem je pak vysvětlena nefarmakologická, farmakologická a sociální compliance a non compliance v geriatrii s uvedením stručné kazuis- tiky. Zmíněny jsou též zvláštnosti u chorob vyššího věku.
In the submitted review the author presents some demographic indicators of ageing - mean life span, age index, number of population above 65 years in need of domicile or institutional care. Subsequently he describes in more detail the problem of expedient pharmacotherapy in o ld age with different pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and possible drug interactions. In the conclusion the author explains non-pharmacological, pharmacological and social compliance and non-compliance in geriatrics incl. a brief case-history. He mentions also specific features of diseases of old age.
