Informace shromažďované v Systému monitorováni zdravotního stavu ve vztahu k životnímu prostředí jsou získávány rutinně ve standardním chodu monitorovacích aktivit od roku 1994. Systém se skládá ze šesti subsystémů: zdravotní důsledky a rizika znečištěného ovzduší, kvality pitné vody, hluku, dietami expozice, expozice toxickým kontaminantům z prostředí (biologický monitoring) a monitorování zdravotního stavu a hodnocení vybraných ukazatelů demografické a zdravotní statistiky. Výsledky svou komplexností představují podklad pro objektivní informování ostatních zemí Evropy a celého světa z pohledu obchodních a kulturních kontaktů. Dokumentují úroveň zdravotního stavu naší populace a míru znečištění sledovaných složek životního prostředí. K překračování limitních hodnot po dobu existence Systému monitorování docházelo a dochází jen ojediněle a pouze v některých lokalitách. Tyto situace jsou převážně hodnoceny jako nesystematické změny. Z hodnocení populační expozice monitorovaným kontaminantům vyplývá, že expoziční limity jsou v monitorovací síti čerpány jen v omezené míře. Lze konstatovat, že významné nárůsty koncentrací kontaminantů v něktexých městech sice existují, jsou však ojedinělého rázu. Na druhé straně nelze v rámci Systému monitorování zatím průkazně konstatovat jejich soustavný a systematický pokles.

Information assembled in the System of monitoring the environmental impact on population health are obtained by a routine proceduře during standard monitoring activities since 1994. The systém comprises six sub-systems: health consequences and risk of a polluted atmosphere, quality of drinldng water, noise, dietary exposure, exposure to toxic contaminants in the environment (biological monitoring) and monitoring of the health status and evaluation of selected indicators of demographic and health statistics.The results are, due to their comprehensive character, a basis for objective Information addressed to other European countries and the whole world from the aspect of commercial and cultural contacts. They document the health status of our population and contamination levels of the investigated environmental components. The limit values were transgressed during the existence of the of Monitoring system only exceptionally and only in some places. These situations are usually described as non-systematic changes. Prom evaluation of the exposure of the population to the contaminants monitored ensues that the exposure limits are recorded only to a limited extent in the monitoring network. It may be stated that signifícant increases of concentration of contaminants in some cities exist but only as an exceptional phenomenon. On the other hand, it is not possible to record their steady and systematic decline within the Monitoring system.
