Pojem hluchoslepota představuje závažné zdravotní postižení, které je charakterizovanésoučasnou kombinací oboustranné vady sluchu a zraku. Péče o takto postižené nemocné představuje závažný zdravotnicko-společenský problém. Cílem sdělení je uvést současné názory na definici,návrh na klasifikaci a hodnocení hluchoslepoty a kombinovaného oboustranného postižení sluchua zraku různého stupně z hlediska otorinolaryngologa.Při posuzování závažnosti a možnostech případného následného odškodňování těchto stavů bylopřihlíženo ke klasifikaci postižení sluchu dle návrhu pracovní skupiny pro prevenci hluchotya nedoslýchavosti WHO a ke Sbírce zákonů České republiky.

The term blind-deafness implies a serious medical affection which is characterized by the combination of bilaterally impaired hearing and eyesight. Care of these patients is a serious medico-social problem. The objective of the paper is to present contemporary views on the definition, suggestions for the classification and evaluation of blind-deafness and combined bilateral affection of hearing and eyesight of various grades from the aspect of the otorhinolaryngologist. In evaluating the severity and possibilities of subsequent damages of these conditions the authors took into account the classification of hearing affections as suggested by the WHO working group for the prevention of deafness and hypacusia and the legal code of the Czech republic.
