Melanin je jedna z látek odpovědných za barvu kůže. Změny v jeho množství, ať již ve smyslu zvýšení, či snížení, mohou pro pacienty představovat závažný psychosociální problém. Vždy je ale na prvním místě třeba vyloučit závažný proces, jako je např. maligní melanom. V článku je nejprve popsána tvorba melaninu. Následuje výčet nejčastějších hyperpigmentací určených k léčbě „bělením“, jako jsou ephelides, lentigo solaris, melasma, sekundární hyperpigmentace, fototoxické reakce. Dále je podán přehled léčebných možností. Podrobněji je zmíněna problematika lokálních „bělicích“ prostředků, především těch, které se v současnosti nejvíce používají. Popsána je rovněž problematika peelingu, fyzikální terapie, kombinace léčebných možností a zdůrazněna je nutnost fotoprotekce.

Melanin is one of the factors of skin pigmentation.Changes in its amount,be it either an increase or a decrease,may be experienced as a serious psycho-social problem by such patients.However, there must in the first place be eliminated some serious process such as malignant melanoma. In the paper there is at first described the formation ofmelanin. That is followed by a list of the most frequent hyperpigmentations subject to therapy by „bleeching“, such as ephelides, lentigo solaris, melasma, secondary hyperpigmentation, phototoxic reactions. Furthermore, there is presented a review of therapeutic options. In more detail is mentioned the problem of local „bleaching“ agents, namely those that at present are being applied most often. Described are also the problems of peeling, physical therapy, the combination of therapeutic options, and stressed is the necesity of photoprotection.
