Autor v přehledu uvádí etiopatogenezi diabetické nefropatie, její epidemiologii, vývoj postižení, a zejména možnost primární a sekundární prevence této komplikace. Poukazuje na časnou diagnostiku, nutnost vyšetřování mikroalbuminurie a posléze, s rozvojem komplikace, na potřebu časné spolupráce diabetologa s nefrologem.

The author presents synoptically the ethiopathogenesis of diabetic nefropathy, its epidemiology, the development of affection and especially the potentials of primary and secondary prevention of this complication. He points out well-timed diagnostics, necessity of the examination of microalbuminuria and later (with the development of the complication) the need for the early cooperation of the diabetologist and nefrologis
