The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of the regular physical activity on the anthropometric parameters in obese patients in relation to age and associated diseases. We have evaluated a group of 16 females of average age 56 years, with body weight 90,7 kg and BMI 35,6 .According to the WHO classification 6 females belonged to the I class obesity category, 7 females to the II class obesity category and 3 females to the III class obesity category. The structured exercise training lasted for 12 weeks, taking place twice a week for 50 minutes. The anthropometric parameters (weight, waist circumference, the percentage of the adipose tissue and BMI calculation) were measured and the spiroergometry was carried out before and after the exercise period. The exercise training was combined with a diet decrease of 2000 kJ /day). The youngest age category (less and including 54 years) reached the most prominent improvement of the anthropometric characteristics (weight, BMI, adiposity percentage) with the exception of the waist circumference values. The improvement of weight and BMI values reached the statistical significance in comparison with the oldest age category (females over and including 60 years). The younger age could be, according to our results, viewed as an important factor influencing the success of the non-pharmacological intervention in obese patients. Females without associated diseases (category 0) reached the most prominent improvement of all anthropometric parameters. They have reached statistically more significant reduction of weight and the percentage of the adipose tissue in comparison with the females with 2 associated diseases (category 2).These results indicate that the number of associated diseases can significantly determine the influence of the exercise treatment on the anthropometric parameters.
