Sexuální funkce jsou u pacientů se schizofrenním onemocněním narušeny. Spokojenost v sexuální oblasti významně přispívá k celkové kvalitě života, přesto byla doposud této problematice věnována nedostatečná pozornost. Zjistit, do jaké míry jsou za sexuální změny nebo dysfunkce odpovědná antipsychotika a do jaké míry samotné onemocnění, je obtížné, protože ke změnám sexuálních funkcí dochází již v premorbidním období. Článek diskutuje změny sexuálního chování v souvislosti s pozitivními, negativními nebo kognitivními příznaky. Zmiňuje nejčastější sexuálních aktivity u schizofrenních pacientů. Dále uvádí přehled nežádoucích sexuálních účinků antipsychotik první (AlG) i druhé (A2G) generace.

Patients with schizophrenia frequently suffer from disturbances of sexual functioning. In spite of the fact that sexual satisfa ction contributes significantly to the overall satisfaction, quality of life and well being in patients with schizophrenia as well as in other hu- man beings, this area of their life has received little attention so far. Changes of sexual functioning in patients with schizo phrenia start frequently premorbidly, prior to the development of the full-blown illness. Antipsychotics themselves could be associated with impai- red sexual functioning. However, due to the poorly studied premorbid changes of sexual functioning in these patients it is diff icult to untangle the contribution of antipsychotics to the impairment of sexual functioning in this population. This review discusses changes of sexual functioning in schizophrenia patients in relation to positive, negative and cognitive s ymptoms of schizophrenia. The review also describes the most frequent sexual activities of schizophrenia patients. Finally, sexual dysf unctions associated with the antipsychotics of the first and second generation are reviewed.
