Šikana je v dnešní době stále aktuálnějším pojmem a je považována za nejzávažnější negativní jev současného školství. Ačkoliv tu šikana byla vždy, dnešní doba vykazuje oproti minulosti alarmující znaky. Jde zejména o zvyšující se počet šikany na školách, snížení věkové hranice pachatelů a o nárůst agresivity a brutality těchto činů. V roce 2008 byl proveden ve vybraných obcích s rozšířenou působností Zlínského kraje výzkum, zabývající se problematikou šikany na školách. Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit výskyt a závažnost šikany na středních odborných školách v Kroměříži, Holešově a Bystřici pod Hostýnem. Výzkum byl řešen jako výzkum kvantitativní, potřebná data byla získána prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření. Výzkumného šetření se zúčastnilo 903 respondentů, studentů prvních a druhých ročníků středních odborných škol v Kroměříži, Holešově a Bystřici pod Hostýnem. Z provedeného výzkumu vyplynulo, že se šikanou se v současné škole setkalo 21 % respondentů a z toho 9 % respondentů je obětí šikany. Nejčastější formou šikanování těchto studentů bylo slovní napadání, nadávky, a to ve 45 %. Pachatelem šikany byli v 60 % chlapci. Výzkum poukázal i na některé problémy, jakými jsou například oznámení šikany a její řešení a problematika boje středních škol proti šikaně. Proto je třeba doporučit školám klást větší důraz na komunikaci se studenty o tomto sociálněpatologickém jevu, klást důraz na větší důvěru mezi studenty a pedagogy a zaměřit se více na preventivní akce.

The persecution is currently an ever more topical problem and it is considered as the most serious negative effect of the contemporary school system. The persecution has always been present, but it currently exerts alarming features compared with the past. This is particularly the increasing rate of persecution events at schools, decrease in the age limit of the offenders and increase in their aggressiveness and brutality. In 2008, a research was implemented in the County Kroměříž, focused on problems of the persecution. The target of the research was to determine the occurrence and severity of the persecution at specialized secondary schools in the County Kroměříž. The research was quantitative and the data necessary were accumulated through the mediation of a questionnaire examination. The research examination included 903 respondents, students of the first and second years at specialized secondary schools in the County Kroměříž. The research implemented indicated that about 21% of the respondents encountered the persecution, 9% being the victims. The most frequent form of the persecution of these students is a verbal attack and abusive language (45%). 60% of the offenders were boys. The research also demonstrated certain problems, such as for example announcing the persecution and its solution and problems of fighting the persecution at secondary schools. Thus, it is to recommend that schools should put a larger emphasize on the communication with students about this socially pathological phenomenon and on increasing the confidence between students and teachers and that they should particularly pay their attention to preventive actions.
