The increase of nosocomial infections in latest years becomes the serious and problem in all countries, including Latvia. It is essential to control the intrahospital infection of virulent strains of micro-organisms, the patient's age, the number of invasive procedures, as well as nurses knowledge about infection control and its practical application. Washing of hands is not only hygienic or medical personnel protection, It’s also prevents infection. So, hand hygiene and use of gloves are main factors used for fight against nosocomial infections. The above mentioned factors cause necessity to investigate the risk of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). infection in Department of Intensive Care and Resuscitation. The aim of work is to research possible prevention and risk factors for intra hospital infections with MRSA. Selected high-quality clinical research method-structured empirical observation was used. Observation consists of a general part and a practical observation. The nurses visual appearance, technical support-materials of division, hand hygiene, infection control and the documentation were analyzed. Research questions were following: Which factors can promote the development of the intra hospital infections in the intensive care unit? What is technical support of the intensive care unit for the prevention of intra hospital infection? It is concluded that: it is possible to isolate and provide individual care of MRSA contaminated patient according to sanitary and hygiene requirements in Department of Intensive Care. Patients are serviced by an individual sister and the sister's assistant. It is stated that it is possible to observe aseptic techniques; a required material technical support is sufficient and complete. So, the principles of antisepsis should be maintained. The results show that Department staff hand hygiene and disinfection, use proper gloves and hand processing are carried out in accordance with the requirements. That should be taken into account as soon as possible in order to avoid the spread of infection.. To counteract the transmission factors, followed by the hand hygiene, the use of gloves and other Department-based disinfection and protective equipment are needed. Key words: nosocomial infection,
