Zánětlivé postižení centrálního nervového systému (CNS) se obvykle promítá do složení likvoru. Cílem vyšetření likvoru je detekce a určení charakteru zánětlivého procesu, což významně usnadňuje další pátrání po příčině postižení CNS. Nejdříve by měl být zjištěn výskyt imunokompetentních buněk coby potencionálních nositelů zánětlivé reakce v CNS. Dalším krokem by pak mělo být vyšetření vhodného funkčního parametru informujícího o úrovni aktivace těchto buněk. Pro tyto potřeby jsme odvodili a řadu let úspěšně používáme tzv. koeficient energetické bilance (KEB). Cílem našeho příspěvku je tento koeficient představit a seznámit odbornou veřejnost s jeho významem pro diagnostiku zánětlivých postižení CNS.

Inflammatory impairment of the central nervous system (CNS) usually projects to the composition of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The goal of investigation of the CSF is to detect and specify the character of the inflammatory response, which significantly aids in the search for the cause of CNS impairment. First, the presence of immunocompetent cells, potential carriers of immune response in the CNS, should be determined. The next step should be to investigate a suitable functional parameter indicating the level of activation of these cells. For this purpose we derived the so called coefficient of energy balance (KEB) and have successfully used it for many years. The aim of our paper is to introduce this coefficient and demonstrate its significance in the diagnostics of inflammatory impairments of the CNS.
