Bakterie rodu Veillonella jsou fyziologickou součástí mikroflóry dutiny ústní, gastrointestinálního a urogenitálního traktu teplokrevných živočichů. Mají malý patogenní potenciál. Uplatní se zejména u lidí oslabených. V příspěvku je prezentována stručná kazuistika, kdy bakterie Veillonella parvula byla pravděpodobně původcem spondylodiscitidy a abscesu musculus psoas u staršího muže.

Bacteria of the genus Veillonella are part of the physiological microflora of the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract, and urogenital tract of warm-blooded animals. They have a low pathogenic potential and are a risk to immunocompromised persons. A brief case report is presented of an aged man with spondylodiscitis and psoas muscle abscess, with Veillonella parvula suggested as the causative agent.
