Správná inhalační technika je jedním ze základních pilířů účinné a bezpečné terapie plicních onemocnění. Dle řady studií však velká část pacientů neprovádí inhalaci správně. Tato skutečnost se pak odráží v mnoha aspektech pacientova bytí – počínaje zhoršením kompenzace samotného onemocnění a konče snížením kvality jeho života. Úkolem zdravotníků je proto maximalizovat benefit takové léčby a minimalizovat její možná rizika. Jedním z nástrojů, jak tohoto dosáhnout, je i vhodná edukace pacienta, který by měl zvládnout nejen inhalační techniku, ale vyvarovat se i chyb, kterých se může v souvislosti s inhalační léčbou dopustit. Následující série článků proto přináší přehled nejčastějších možných chyb, ke kterým může během inhalace i samotné manipulace s inhalátorem dojít. První z trojice článků, které budou postupně publikovány, se věnuje chybám obecným. Na něj pak budou navazovat články věnující se problematice zacházení s jednotlivými typy inhalačních lékových systémů dostupných na našem trhu.

Proper inhalation technique is one of the basic pillars of effective and safe therapy for lung diseases. However, according to a number of studies, a large proportion of patients do not inhale properly. This fact is then reflected in many aspects of patient's existence – from the deterioration of compensation of the disease itself to the reduction of their quality of life. The task of healthcare professionals is therefore to maximize the benefit of such treatment and minimize its possible risks. One of the tools to achieve this is appropriate education of the patient, who should not only master the inhalation technique, but also avoid the mistakes that can be made in connection with inhalation treatment. Therefore, the following series of articles provides an overview of the most common possible errors that can occur during the inhalation and the handling of the inhaler itself. The first of three articles which will be published gradually deals with general errors. It will be followed by articles dealing with the issue of handling individual types of inhaled drug systems available on our market.
