U pacienta sledovaného pro neurofibromatózu typ 1 byl diagnostikován plexiformní neurofibrom v oblasti malé pánve infiltrující stěnu močového měchýře a působící hydronefrózu útlakem levého močovodu. Tumor byl radikálně inoperabilní, proto byla zavedena nefrostomie a zahájena cílená léčba selumetinibem. Po třech měsících léčby došlo k mírné regresi tumoru, ale nedošlo k obnovení průchodnosti ureteru. Ureter nebyl průchozí ani po dalších třech měsících, proto bylo nutno řešit derivaci moči vytvořením ureterostomie. Pacient pokračuje v terapii selumetinibem s minimálními nežádoucími účinky.

A patient with neurofibromatosis type 1 was diagnosed with a plexiform neurofibroma of the pelvic region, which infiltrated the bladder and caused hydronefrosis by compressing the left ureter. The tumor was radically inoperable. A nephrostomy tube was inserted and therapy with selumetinib initiated. After three months of therapy the tumor was slightly smaller, the ureter remained blocked. When the ureter was not unblocked even after another three months an ureterostomy was performed. The patient continues on therapy with minimal adverse effects.
