V práci sa analyzujú výsledky liečby 57 pacientov s retinoblastómom v priebehu 30-ročného sledovania v rokoch 1967-1996. V liečbe holi použité nasledovné metody: enukleácia, externá rádioterapia, brachyterapia, chemoterapia, fotokoagulácia a kryopexia. Komplexnou liečbou sa dosiahlo až 84,2% prežívanie pacientov. Na metastázy retinoblastómu existovalo 8,8 %, na sekundárne tumory 5,2 % a na pinealoblastóm 1,7 %. Enukleováných bolo 72,6 % postihnutých očí a zvyšok bol vyliečený s normálnymi zrakovými funkciami až u 71,7 % očí. 48 prežívajúcich pacientov je dispenzarizovaných a kontrolovaných v spolupráci oftalmológa a onkológa. Diskutované sú otázky modernej stratégie liečby, pokles frekvencie enukleácií a j zᬠchrana bulbu i užitočného videnia.

The author analyzes the therapeutic results in 57 patients with retinoblastoma during a 30-yearr period in 1967-1996. The following therapeutic methods were used: enucleation, external radiotherapy, brachytherapy, chemotherapy, photocoagulation and cryopexy. By comprehensive treatment up to 84.2 % survival of patients was achieved. 8.8 % patients died from metastases of retinoblastoma, 5.2 % from secondary tumours and 1.7 % from pinealoblastomas. 72.6 % affected eyes were enucleated and the remainder was cured with normal visual functions in 71.7 % eyes. 48 of the surviving patients are under dispensary care and checked in collaboration by an ophthalmologist and oncologist. The author discusses problems of modem thera^ peutic strategy the declining frequency of enucleations and the preservation of the eyeball and useful vision.
