Autori hodnotia nález na rohovkovom endoteli pred a po operácii katarakty. Na vyšetrenie endotelu bol použitý spekulárny mikroskop SP 1.000 firmy Topcon. Súbor sa skladal zo 64 očí u 64 pacientov. Pacienti boli náhodne roztzdelení do dvoch skupm. V prvej skupine bolo 26 pacientov, u ktorých sa vykonala ECCE. Druhí skupinu tvorilo 38 pacientov a skalená šošovka sa odstránila metódou fakoemulzifikácie. Priemerný vek v prvej skupine bol 69,3 roka a v druhej 70,7 roka. Bol použitý rovnaký viskoelastický materiál (metylcelulóza) a implantovala sa rovna¬ ká umelá šošovka z PMMA materiálu do puzdra. Vyšetrenie endotelu sa vykonalo deň pred operáciou a siedmy až desiaty deň po operácii. V práci sa hodnotili tieto parametre: hustota buniek endotelu v centre, priemerná veľkosť buniek, polymegetizmus, koeficient variácie, pleomorfizmus. V skupine pacientov pri ECCE sme mali stratu endotelových buniek (EB) 18,53 %, v skupine, kde sa vykonala fakoemulzifikácia jadra, bola strata 16,43 % EB. Tento rozdiel nie je štatisticky signi kantný. Pooperačné došlo u EB v oboch súboroch k zväčšeieniu minimálnej, maximálnej aj priemernej velkosti buniek, zväčšil sa koeficient variácie a naopak klesol stupeň hexagonality buniek. Ani v týchto parametroch sme však nezistili Štatisticky významné rozdiely v zmenách EB u oboch súborov. Po operácii katarakty dochádza nielen k strate EB, ale aj k významným zmenám morfológie buniek.

The authors evaluate the finding on the corneal endothelium before and d afte operation of cataract. For examination of the endothelium they used a specular microscope SP 1.000 of Topcon Co. The group comprised 64 eyes of 64 patients.The patients were divided at random into two groups. The first group comprised 26 patients, where ECCE was performed. The second group comprised 38 patients and the opaque lens was removed by phacoemulsification. The mean age in the first group was 69.3 years and in the second group 70.7 years. The same viscoelastic material (methylcellulose) was used and the same synthetic lens from PMMmaterial was implanted into the capsule. The endothelium was examined one day after operation and on the 7th to 10th day after operation. The following parameters were evaluated -.density of the endothelial cells in the centre , mean cell size, polymegethism , coefficient of variation, pleomorphism. In the group of patient who had ECCE the loss of endothelial cells was 18.53%, in the group with phacoemulsification Of the nucleus the loss was 16.43%. This difference is not statistically significant. After operation in both groups enlargement of the minimal, maxima as well as mean cell size was observed, the coefficient of variation increased while the grade of cell hexagonality decreased.However these differences in endothelia cells were not statistically significant. After operation of cataract not only endothelial cells are lost but also significant changes in cell morphology occur.
