The authors demonstrate on a 92-year-old patient the typical clinical picture and course of persisting chronic acantholytic dermatosis, a variant of Grover's disease. After two years persistence ofthe disease treated unsuccessfully with local corticosteroids and antihistaminic drugs the patient was examined by a specialist and the disease was verified histologically. With regard to predominating changes ofthe type of morbus Darier in the histopathological picture, among different therapeutic possibilities etretinate was selected. The excellent therapeutic effect was arrested by the unreasonable discontinuation ofthe drug by the patient. The fact that the relapse ofthe disease was successfully controlled by restoration of the drug and that the patient has no serious complaints associated with this treatment proves according to the authors that the selection of the drug was suitable.
