Definition
A cell-surface mucin-like glycoprotein that is encoded by the PDPN gene and is commonly found in the PULMONARY ALVEOLI, HEART, and endothelium of lymphatic vessels. It interacts with the C-type lectin-like receptor 2 (CLEC-2), expressed on BLOOD PLATELETS. It may also function in TUMOR development and progression.
