The Internet of Things (IoT) is a universal network to supervise the physical world through sensors installed on different devices. The network can improve many areas, including healthcare because IoT technology has the potential to reduce pressure caused by aging and chronic diseases on healthcare systems. For this reason, researchers attempt to solve the challenges of this technology in healthcare. In this paper, a fuzzy logic-based secure hierarchical routing scheme using the firefly algorithm (FSRF) is presented for IoT-based healthcare systems. FSRF comprises three main frameworks: fuzzy trust framework, firefly algorithm-based clustering framework, and inter-cluster routing framework. A fuzzy logic-based trust framework is responsible for evaluating the trust of IoT devices on the network. This framework identifies and prevents routing attacks like black hole, flooding, wormhole, sinkhole, and selective forwarding. Moreover, FSRF supports a clustering framework based on the firefly algorithm. It presents a fitness function that evaluates the chance of IoT devices to be cluster head nodes. The design of this function is based on trust level, residual energy, hop count, communication radius, and centrality. Also, FSRF involves an on-demand routing framework to decide on reliable and energy-efficient paths that can send the data to the destination faster. Finally, FSRF is compared to the energy-efficient multi-level secure routing protocol (EEMSR) and the enhanced balanced energy-efficient network-integrated super heterogeneous (E-BEENISH) routing method based on network lifetime, energy stored in IoT devices, and packet delivery rate (PDR). These results prove that FSRF improves network longevity by 10.34% and 56.35% and the energy stored in the nodes by 10.79% and 28.51% compared to EEMSR and E-BEENISH, respectively. However, FSRF is weaker than EEMSR in terms of security. Furthermore, PDR in this method has dropped slightly (almost 1.4%) compared to that in EEMSR.
This article describes the background, implementation, and evaluation of an Internet-based health promotion network in the Czech Republic. The network was intended to build the indigenous capacity of Czech health professionals in the use of the Internet for tobacco control to organize and coordinate public health campaigns, heighten public awareness, and catalyze policy change. Multiple methods of evaluation included three needs assessment surveys, three training workshop evaluations, an Internet survey of participating member organizations, and quarterly reports from the project partners. The evaluation showed that an Internet-based network was established with 40 health professionals from 30 organizations. A grassroots heart disease prevention and tobacco-control advocacy group was formed. Network participants utilized and continue to utilize the Internet to communicate, research, coordinate outreach, and advocate tobacco-control issues.

OBJECTIVE: Despite pharmacological treatment of bipolar affective disorder has many advantages; only drug treatment remains insufficiently beneficial to many patients. The combination of pharmacotherapy and internet psychoeducation seems to be the effective way how to improve remission. Internet-based therapy programs offer an exclusive chance for large underserved parts of the population to make evidence-based treatment without the need of full-time therapist. Our goal was to create a psychoeducational program for patients suffering from bipolar disorder that can be used in Czech Republic. METHODS: There were identified studies through Web of Science, PUBMED, and Scopus databases as well as existing reviews were used in development of comprehensive internet psychoeducational program for patients with bipolar disorder. The search terms included "bipolar disorder", "psychoeducation", and "internet psychoeducation". The search was performed with no language or time restrictions. RESULTS: The internet psychoeducational program was developed in accordance to the data from the literature review. The aim of the Internet psychoeducational program of the Department of Psychiatry University Hospital in Olomouc is to familiarize patients with the fundamental nature of bipolar affective disorder, the character and principles of pharmacotherapy, the recognition of the warning signs of relapse, inappropriate and stressful stereotypes in communication within families, and finally the practice of social skills. CONCLUSION: Information from studies can help to prepare comprehensive psychoeducational program for bipolar patients.

INTRODUCTION: Monitoring for various health conditions (e.g., breast cancer, hypertension) has become common practice. However, there is still no established tool for regular monitoring of cognition. In this pilot longitudinal study, we examined the utility and feasibility of internet-based cognitive self-monitoring using data from the first 12 months of this ongoing study. METHOD: Cognitively healthy community-dwelling older adults (Montreal Cognitive Assessment ≥ 26) were enrolled on a rolling basis and were trained in self-administration of the internet-based version of the CogState Brief Battery. The battery uses playing cards and includes Detection, Identification, One Back, and One Card Learning subtasks. RESULTS: Of the 118 participants enrolled, 26 dropped out, mostly around first in-home session. Common reasons for participant attrition were internet browser problems, health problems, and computer problems. Common reasons for delayed session completion were being busy, being out of town, and health problems. Participants needed about one reminder phone call per four completed sessions or one reminder email per five completed sessions. Performance across the monthly sessions showed slight (but significant) improvement on three of the four tasks. Change in performance was unaffected by individual characteristics with the exception of previous computer use, with less frequent users showing greater improvement on One Card Learning. We also found low intraindividual variability in monthly test scores beyond the first self-administered testing session. CONCLUSIONS: Internet-based self-monitoring offers a potentially feasible and effective method of continuous cognitive monitoring among older adults.

INTRODUCTION: The Industrial Internet of Water Things (IIoWT) has recently emerged as a leading architecture for efficient water distribution in smart cities. Its primary purpose is to ensure high-quality drinking water for various institutions and households. However, existing IIoWT architecture has many challenges. One of the paramount challenges in achieving data standardization and data fusion across multiple monitoring institutions responsible for assessing water quality and quantity. OBJECTIVE: This paper introduces the Industrial Internet of Water Things System for Data Standardization based on Blockchain and Digital Twin Technology. The main objective of this study is to design a new IIoWT architecture where data standardization, interoperability, and data security among different water institutions must be met. METHODS: We devise the digital twin-enabled cross-platform environment using the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol to achieve seamless interoperability in heterogeneous computing. In water management, we encounter different types of data from various sensors. Therefore, we propose a CNN-LSTM and blockchain data transactional (BCDT) scheme for processing valid data across different nodes. RESULTS: Through simulation results, we demonstrate that the proposed IIoWT architecture significantly reduces processing time while improving the accuracy of data standardization within the water distribution management system. CONCLUSION: Overall, this paper presents a comprehensive approach to tackle the challenges of data standardization and security in the IIoWT architecture.

While the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized several industries, it has also created severe data security concerns. The security of these network devices and the dependability of IoT networks depend on efficient threat detection. Device heterogeneity, computing resource constraints, and the ever-changing nature of cyber threats are a few of the obstacles that make detecting cyber threats in IoT systems difficult. Complex threats often go undetected by conventional security measures, requiring more sophisticated, adaptive detection methods. Therefore, this study presents the Hybrid approach based on the Support Vector Machines Rule-Based Detection (HSVMR-D) method for an all-encompassing approach to identifying cyber threats to the IoT. The HSVMR-D employs SVM to categorize known and unknown threats using attributes acquired from IoT data. Identifying known attack signatures and patterns using rule-based approaches improves detection efficiency without retraining by adapting pre-trained models to new IoT contexts. Moreover, protecting vital infrastructure and sensitive data, HSVMR-D provides a thorough and adaptable solution to improve the security posture of IoT deployments. Comprehensive experiment analysis and simulation results compared to the baseline study have confirmed the efficiency of the proposed HSVMR-D. Furthermore, increased resilience to completely novel changing threats, fewer false positives, and improved accuracy in threat detection are all outcomes that show the proposed work outperforms others. The HSVMR-D approach is helpful where the primary objective is a secure environment in the Internet of Things (IoT) when resources are limited.

In this paper, the design and research of a sensor-based personal air-quality monitoring device are presented, which is retrofitted into different personal protective face masks. Due to its small size and low power consumption, the device can be integrated into and applied in practical urban usage. We present our research and the development of the sensor node based on a BME680-type environmental sensor cluster with a wireless IoT (Internet of Things)-capable central unit and overall low power consumption. The integration of the sensor node was investigated with traditional medical masks and a professional FFP2-type mask. The filtering efficiency after embedding was validated with a head model and a particle counter. We found that the professional mask withstood the embedding without losing the protective filtering aspect. We compared the inner and outer sensor data and investigated the temperature, pressure, humidity, and AQI (Air Quality Index) relations with possible sensor data-fusion options. The novelty is increased with the dual-sensor layout (inward and outward). It was found that efficient respiration monitoring is achievable with the device. With the analysis of the recorded data, characteristic signals were identified in an urban environment, enabling urban altimetry and urban zone detection. The results promote smart city concepts and help in endeavors related to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) 3 and 11.

BACKGROUND: We aimed to evaluate the computer usage patterns of adolescents and to determine the effects of family life and parental attitude on these patterns. METHODS: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional, population-based survey that included 935 children between 11 and 16 years of age who were students in the second level of primary school and their parents as well. The following instruments were used in the survey: student and parent questionnaires on computer usage patterns and the Parental Attitude Research Instrument (PARI) to assess parental attitudes towards child-rearing and family life. RESULTS: Of the study population, the majority of the students had a computer in their homes and spent a lot of time on the Internet. Parental control over the amount of time spent on the Internet and the websites that were visited had sometimes limited and contradictory effects on computer usage among the students. A democratic parental attitude was the best approach. Using the computer as a reward or punishment had a negative impact on the children's computer usage patterns. CONCLUSIONS: Although parents are confused concerning the benefits and harms of the Internet for their children and not certain how to manage their children's use of the computer and safe navigation of the Internet, a democratic parental attitude appears to be the best approach for reaching the most beneficial computer usage patterns for students.

The Ten-Item Internet Gaming Disorder Test (IGDT-10) is a short screening instrument developed to assess Internet gaming disorder (IGD) as proposed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of MentalDisorders, fifth edition (DSM-5), adopting a concise, clear, and consistent item-wording. According to initial studies conducted in 2014, the instrument showed promising psychometric characteristics. The present study tested the psychometric properties, including language and gender invariance, in a large international sample of online gamers. In this study, data were collected from 7,193 participants comprising Hungarian (n = 3,924), Iranian (n = 791), English-speaking (n = 754), French-speaking (n = 421), Norwegian (n = 195), Czech (n = 496), and Peruvian (n = 612) online gamers via gaming-related websites and gaming-related social-networking-site groups. A unidimensional factor structure provided a good fit to the data in all language-based samples. In addition, results indicated both language and gender invariance on the level of scalar invariance. Criterion and construct validity of the IGDT-10 was supported by its strong association with the Problematic Online Gaming Questionnaire and moderate association with weekly gaming time, psychopathological symptoms, and impulsivity. The proportions of each sample that met the cut-off score on the IGDT-10 varied between 1.61% and 4.48% in the individual samples, except for the Peruvian sample (13.44%). The IGDT-10 shows robust psychometric properties and appears suitable for conducting cross-cultural and gender comparisons across seven languages.
